JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:

This posi­tion is focused on pro­vid­ing ded­i­cat­ed ana­lyt­i­cal and finan­cial sup­port for Ver­dant Tech­nolo­gies. The posi­tion will sup­port a vari­ety of ini­tia­tives through the use of mul­ti­ple tools includ­ing spread­sheets, data ware­hous­ing appli­ca­tions, and finan­cial report­ing sys­tems. The FA will serve as a finan­cial advisor/liaison to oper­a­tional and cor­po­rate func­tions. The FA will be tasked with sim­ple to mod­er­ate­ly com­plex analy­sis assign­ments that range from peri­od­ic report­ing and analy­sis, to fore­cast­ing and bud­get­ing. Work is dead­line spe­cif­ic and is occa­sion­al­ly high-pres­sure.

In this role, the Finan­cial Ana­lyst will devel­op a thor­ough under­stand­ing of the busi­ness, the key per­for­mance indi­ca­tors of suc­cess, and cur­rent busi­ness trends. In addi­tion, a suc­cess­ful can­di­date in this role will become an expert in knowl­edge of where and how to acquire the right set of data, how to assim­i­late that data into mean­ing­ful met­rics, and how to use the met­rics to con­vey finan­cial issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Cre­ate and devel­op oper­at­ing bud­gets and fore­casts; eval­u­ate results and per­form vari­ance analy­sis.
  • Com­mu­ni­cate per­for­mance to busi­ness lead­ers and aid in train­ing the orga­ni­za­tion to enhance finan­cial acu­men.
  • Assist with the prepa­ra­tion of mate­ri­als for month­ly board pack­ages and calls.
  • Iden­ti­fy finan­cial risks and oppor­tu­ni­ties.
  • Iden­ti­fy trends and devel­op­ments in indus­try.
  • Make rec­om­men­da­tions to man­age­ment based on find­ings.
  • Par­tic­i­pate in spe­cial projects and strate­gic ini­tia­tives.
  • Pro­vide ad hoc finan­cial analy­sis as request­ed.
  • Apply ana­lyt­i­cal think­ing to the devel­op­ment of finan­cial mod­els using key busi­ness dri­vers.
  • Review and eval­u­ate depart­ments’ plans and requests—particularly cap­i­tal expen­di­ture pro­pos­als.
  • Ana­lyze large projects (usu­al­ly cap­i­tal) on a post-com­ple­tion basis to see if finan­cial tar­gets were met.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Account­ing, Busi­ness, Math­e­mat­ics, or Eco­nom­ics.

  • 2 — 5 years of rel­e­vant expe­ri­ence.

  • Advanced knowl­edge of Excel with strong atten­tion to detail.

  • Famil­iar with ERP sys­tems, Data Ware­hous­es, BI appli­ca­tions, and Pow­er­Point.

  • Pro­fi­cien­cy in Microsoft Excel must include use of lookup func­tions and piv­ot tables.
