JOB TITLE: Product Technical Manager (West Region)

JOB SUMMARY:

Respon­si­ble for exe­cu­tion of Ver­dant prod­ucts as well as cus­tomer tech­ni­cal sup­port at point of use/customer facil­i­ties ensur­ing effi­cient and effec­tive prod­uct appli­ca­tion and per­for­mance as well as ongo­ing high degree of cus­tomer sat­is­fac­tion (for assigned region/customers). 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Devel­op and main­tain strong work­ing rela­tion­ships and high degree of sat­is­fac­tion with cus­tomers through time­ly and effec­tive service/support, col­lab­o­ra­tion and prod­uct sub­ject-mat­ter-exper­tise.
  • Learn and under­stand cus­tomer needs trans­lat­ing them into prod­uct use pro­to­cols and ser­vice require­ments.
  • Work to inte­grate emerg­ing prod­ucts into effec­tive cus­tomer use.
  • Assist in new prod­uct launch­es to train cus­tomers to apply, han­dle, and store prop­er­ly.
  • Work with cus­tomers to effi­cient­ly and effec­tive­ly trou­bleshoot and resolve prod­uct use issues or com­pli­ca­tions. Assist in devel­op­ment of effec­tive long-term coun­ter­mea­sures and cor­rec­tive actions.
  • Align with Prod­uct Lead and Sales to devel­op tech­ni­cal train­ing mate­ri­als, field trials/demos to edu­cate cus­tomers and grow­ers on the ben­e­fits of Verdant’s cur­rent com­mer­cial prod­ucts.
  • Imple­ments local tri­al pro­to­cols to refine prod­uct val­ue propo­si­tions and use direc­tions to train Sales and give con­fi­dence in prod­uct pro­file.
  • Devel­op rela­tion­ships with uni­ver­si­ty researchers and key influ­encers to devel­op projects that sup­port the use of the Ver­dant brand.
  • Com­mu­ni­cate with Prod­uct Direc­tor on all cus­tomer issues, relay reme­di­al action tak­en, and seek assis­tance for issues not read­i­ly resolved.
  • Assist Prod­uct and Sales teams with prod­uct devel­op­ment and inno­va­tion, as well as account/market pen­e­tra­tion and expan­sion.
  • Man­age per­son­al dai­ly activ­i­ties to achieve assigned goals and Key Per­for­mance Indi­ca­tors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Abil­i­ty to mul­ti­task and meet dead­lines.
  • Abil­i­ty to work inde­pen­dent­ly as well as a mem­ber of a team.
  • High degree of pro­fes­sion­al and com­mit­ment to cus­tomer ser­vice and sat­is­fac­tion.
  • Will­ing and able to trav­el with­in defined territory/region by vehi­cle and air with poten­tial inter­na­tion­al trav­el, and trav­el out­side of territory/region (occa­sion­al overnight/multiple day trav­el). Valid driver’s license, insur­a­bil­i­ty, and pass­port required.
  • Pro­fi­cient knowl­edge of com­put­ers and soft­ware, specif­i­cal­ly MS Office, nec­es­sary for com­mu­ni­ca­tion, data col­lec­tion and sta­tis­ti­cal analy­sis, and report­ing.
  • Strong ana­lyt­i­cal, writ­ten, and ver­bal com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills.
  • Loca­tion: Cal­i­for­nia (Cen­tral Val­ley or Cen­tral Coast).

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • M.S. or B.S. with >5 years of rel­e­vant work expe­ri­ence and tech­ni­cal prod­uct back­ground in Post-Har­vest phys­i­ol­o­gy, Crop Pro­tec­tion, or sim­i­lar degree pro­grams.
  • Mul­ti­ple years of expe­ri­ence work­ing in qual­i­ty con­trol, qual­i­ty assur­ance, food safe­ty or sim­i­lar in fresh pro­duce pack­ing or post-har­vest envi­ron­ment. Back­ground in R&D for agri­cul­ture post-har­vest in sup­ply chain expe­ri­ence with Sales rep­re­sen­ta­tives.
